The EU's role in our consumer safety

Thanks to the EU, we in the UK benefit from:
- the ability to buy quality goods at reasonable prices, due to consumer protection measures and benefits of standardisation
- safety standards for goods and services, including for the toys that our children play with, and a mechanism for acting swiftly when products are found to be dangerous or faulty
- safer food, through monitoring of the full lifecycle of food production and supply
- safe, well-studied medicines
- controlled use of chemicals in manufacturing and in the environment.
